This article aimed to study the importance of artificial intelligence in university education in Venezuela from a critical and reflective perspective. Considered a discipline that seeks to create systems capable of performing tasks that typically require human intelligence, such as learning, reasoning, or creativity, it also poses threats and challenges that must be considered and faced with responsibility and ethics. To carry out this article, a documentary methodology was used based on a review of relevant bibliographic sources on the subject. The article connects to the development of: Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education, Challenges and Challenges of Implementing Artificial Intelligence, Benefits and Opportunities for University Teachers, andits Importance.The article concludes that universities must ensure they have the appropriate infrastructure and technological resources to effectively implement solutions with artificial intelligence. Finally, it is important to promote collaboration among universities, government, and the private sector to share knowledge, resources, and best practices in its implementation in higher education. To improve the application of artificial intelligence in higher education, it is suggested to conduct more longitudinal research to evaluate its long-term impact. Therefore, it is necessary to educate for AI and with AI, with a critical, ethical, and humanistic vision.Keyworks:Artificial Intelligence, University Education, Technology.
